North Shore submission grappling & bjj in Takapuna, Auckland
Modern no-gi submission grappling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on Auckland's North Shore.
Beginner friendly.
All levels welcome. No experience required.
What is Submission Grappling?
Submission grappling is ground fighting that uses leverage, positioning and technique — not strength — to control and submit an opponent. It draws from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling and other grappling disciplines into a practical, modern training system built around live resistance.
One of the fastest growing combat sports in the world — and one of the best ways to build fitness, confidence and problem-solving ability.
Rooted in Community, Mastered on the Mats
North Shore Submission Grappling Club is an Incorporated Society — meaning it exists for its members, not as a commercial gym.
Members train together, support each other's development, and have a say in how the club is run.

New to Grappling?
Most of our members started with zero experience. You don't need to be strong or athletic — the training builds that over time. Our Fundamentals classes are the right place to start.
What to expect in your first Class.
Classes are structured so beginners can follow along comfortably from day one.
A typical session includes:
-
Warm-up and movement drills
-
Technical instruction and demonstration
-
Partner drills
-
Optional live grappling at the end
You go at your own pace. Most people are surprised how quickly they settle in.
Train Hard.
Train Respectfully.
Our members include students, professionals, parents and people who'd never trained before. Some compete.
Most train for fitness, self-defence or the simple satisfaction of getting better at something hard.
Everyone's here to improve and help others do the same.
